Freedom Mortgage Partners With USO For Rucksacks To Backpacks Campaign

By KIMBERLEY HAAS

Leaders at Freedom Mortgage have announced they will provide a total of $100,000 to the Rucksacks to Backpacks program which supports military families with needed school supplies.

The program is run by the United Service Organizations. This is the 12th year Freedom Mortgage has supported these efforts.

“Each year, this campaign creates so much excitement for military families and their children, knowing they will be able to start off the school year prepared,” Stanley Middleman, president and CEO of Freedom Mortgage, said in a statement.

Over the years, the company has donated over 31,000 backpacks and more than 70,000 school supply items, including pens, notebooks, and folders for children of active-duty military, National Guard members, and Reservists.

“We are grateful to Freedom Mortgage for their support and partnership with the USO,” Regional President Rebecca Parkes said in a statement.

Freedom Mortgage, headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, is a national independent mortgage company.

Company leaders say they use friendly competition to get employees motivated to participate in their Rucksacks to Backpacks campaign. In the past, team leaders have created incentives for employees by agreeing to have water balloons or a pie thrown at them when a donation goal is met.

As of Aug. 2, Freedom Mortgage employees had already donated more than $31,000 to this year’s Rucksacks to Backpacks campaign, and company leaders were planning to host their first of many backpack distribution events across the country. Their support will continue through the end of this month.
