Bilt, eXp Realty Launch Points Program For Homebuying

Bilt Rewards partnered with eXp Realty to open its points-for-rent program to include home purchases.

The company, a rewards program for renters who pay with a Bilt credit card, will now award one point for every $2 of a home’s purchase price.

Bilt Points are redeemable for a variety of luxuries, such as travel and fitness classes.

“Americans receive rewards for everyday purchases, but have never been properly rewarded for the largest purchase they will make in their lifetime. Bilt pioneered Bilt Points on rent payments to give members something back on their biggest monthly expense. Now, we’re going to reward them when they buy a home—their largest lifetime purchase,” said Ankur Jain, Founder and CEO of Bilt Rewards.

“This is part of our broader mission to make the path to homeownership more accessible and rewarding for our members.”

Bilt also rolled out a home search tool that shows available homes based on best estimates of an all-in monthly payment, including property taxes and insurance. Renters can then compare the cost of homeownership to their rent payments.

Using the tool gives buyers the power to compare homes in different cities and how their buying power changes, as well as see indicative rates and mortgage types across FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and non-QM lenders.

Members can also apply their points towards a down payment.

Bilt came to prominence through its rental rewards, which allowed its members to put on-time monthly rent payments towards their credit history.

“The path to homeownership seems distant to American renters, but for many, homeownership is closer than they realize,” Bilt Board Member and former Fannie Mae CEO Tim Mayopoulos commented. “It’s about making homeownership feel achievable and transparent.”

The company partnered with eXp Realty for the rollout. Buyers must use an eXp agent to earn points on their home purchase.
